Nurses at New Jersey hospital vote to join union
The 420 registered nurses at Inspira Medical Center Woodbury in Gloucester County, N.J., voted Wednesday to accept the Health Professionals and Allied Employees (HPAE) union as their collective bargaining agent.
“We continue to believe that our nurses do not need to be part of a union to achieve their goals, but we respect their right to have their voices heard,” said Eileen K. Cardile, president and CEO of Inspira Woodbury, and executive vice president of the Inspira Health Network. “We welcome the opportunity to sit down with the union in good faith to negotiate a contract that is fair to all stakeholders in our network and our community.”
Nurses at Inspira’s hospitals in Vineland, Elmer and Bridgeton joined HPAE in 2006.
